Featuring science-backed innovations, the new lines are designed to support changing needs over time.
Just this month, Sleep Number Corporation introduced its next-gen smart beds (starting at $1,099 for a Queen) and Lifestyle Furniture (starting at $3,500). An extension of the original Sleep Number 360 smart beds, the latest advancements are based on findings from more than 19 billion hours of proprietary longitudinal sleep data from the 360 smart beds. Using embedded research-grade sensors and artificial intelligence, the next-gen smart beds learn the unique biometrics and sleep patterns of each sleeper. Even better, they automatically adjust to meet a person’s changing needs, whether pregnant, recovering from injury, aging or simply living day-to-day. While these effortless adjustments cater to each individual with no action required by the sleeper, the beds also feature Sleep Number’s signature firmness adjustability for highly personalized sleep.
Thanks to the adjustability factors, the next-gen smart beds can help those with medical conditions like Restless Leg Syndrome—a treatable neurological disorder—when the cause is musculoskeletal in nature. For example, repositioning the back in sleep may relieve some of the symptoms. However, one should also have a proper evaluation of that pain in the event that more aggressive therapy is indicated.
The next-gen Sleep Number smart beds go even further. They also monitor personal health data, including average heart rate, average breathing rate and motion, and sleep trends. The data, delivered daily to the sleeper’s smartphone, is key to understanding one’s sleep quality and informing lifestyle changes (such as a consistent sleep and wake time).
More so, the beds also balance temperature and automatically adjust to a person’s individual shape, sleeping positions and movement on each side of the bed. The next-gen smart beds also now feature cooling properties thanks to a breathable layer to detract heat.
The next-gen smart beds also continuously analyze and personalize sleep insights in partnership with leading sleep health experts. Sleepers can then use that information for preventive and proactive health care.
Meanwhile, Sleep Number’s Lifestyle Furniture features an upholstered bed surround, an optional adjustable table with an integrated storage pocket and a support bar that helps with entering or exiting the bed. Additional enhancements include ambient lighting on the back of the headboard to support one’s circadian rhythm; individual rotating reading lights that adjust in color and intensity; built-in, individual speakers that mask in-bed and environmental noise while also integrating with a user’s smart device; integrated charging and storage pockets for books, tablets and other items; and sleek, wireless remotes on each side of the bed that control lighting and sound.
Made with high-quality textiles and durable leather, the Lifestyle Furniture can be customized with a variety of styles and fabrics. Style options include box tufted buttonless, diamond tufted button and horizontal split channel, while fabric options include pewter basketweave, mist basketweave, pearl tweed bouclé and sand basketweave. The line also complements Sleep Number’s existing furniture portfolio, including the Essential and Premium Collections.
The Sleep Number i10 smart beds, m7 smart beds and Lifestyle Furniture are now available at sleepnumber.com and in all Sleep Numberstores. The i8 smart bed, p-series smart beds and c-series smart beds will be available in July.
