Pantone’s Color of the Year 2022

January 21, 2022 by Misty Milioto Leave a Comment

Very Peri epitomizes new beginnings and transition.

Transition is the keyword for 2022, and the Pantone Color Institute has created a color that symbolizes a new beginning. Embracing tones of blue, with a violet-red undertone, Very Peri (PANTONE 17-3938) encourages creativity and expression, and a joyous attitude toward what surrounds us. Embracing this new color trend, Rio Tinto Porto, Portugal-based contemporary furniture designer Boca do Lobo has created a selection of luxe designs that incorporate Very Peri in a unique way.

For example, the Imperfectio Sofa in polished brass and leather is the expression of an imperfect aesthetic. This accent sofa praises artisanal work as the ultimate form of art that is intentionally imperfect—as seen in the irregularities and flaws over the manual hammered brass.

Meanwhile, the Zaragoça Side Table provides a perfect pop of color while intensifying the Very Peri color. The classical silhouette and flowing details are available in a high-gloss varnish translucent color over silver leaf in a choice of emerald, lapis, amethyst or citrine.

Pair Very Peri with emerald green for a truly bold look. Boco do Lobo’s multifaceted Diamond Emerald Sideboard is influenced by the deconstructivism movement of postmodern architecture. It is conceived from wood and covered by silver leaf finished with a distinct translucent shade of emerald and high-gloss varnish on top. It features two highly sculpted drawers and two doors, leading to a shimmery gold leaf interior. The body is supported by a sharp golden base.

And the Marie Thérèse mahogany mirror, named after the eldest daughter of Marie Antoinette and Louis XVI, features beautiful lines and special elements such as hand-carved details and a high-gloss electric finish.
